For Railay and Ao Nang the short answer is December to February: the driest months, and the middle of the high season. The longer answer depends on what you value, because the same weather that makes January easy also makes it the priciest time to sleep on Railay.
The table uses climate data for Krabi and Wikivoyage's season dates, so nothing on this page is a guess.

Weather: Krabi climate data, 1981 to 2010, as shown on Wikipedia (mean daily maximum and minimum, average monthly rainfall and rainy days). Crowds: Wikivoyage's Ao Nang page defines high season as roughly 1 November to 30 April and low season as May to October.
What the climate data says
Wikipedia describes Krabi's climate as tropical monsoon, with a ten-month rainy season between March and December. Within that, the pattern is clear: January (32 mm over 5.3 days) and February (43.4 mm over 4.5 days) are the driest months, October is the wettest at 323.5 mm over 21.5 rainy days, and September and August are not far behind.
Temperatures barely change. Mean daily highs stay between 31.1 °C and 34.3 °C all year, and lows between 21.6 °C and 23.7 °C, so the difference between months is rain, not heat. March is the hottest month in the table. For the same question across the whole country, see Thailand Voyager's guide to when to go.
High season and low season
Wikivoyage puts high season at roughly 1 November to 30 April, when it is driest and busiest. Its Railay page says prices typically double in that window, and its Ao Nang page gives an example of a 600 baht low-season room costing 1,600 baht in high season.
From May to October it is low season: prices fall and, according to Wikivoyage's Ao Nang page, many places close. Wikivoyage also notes that the ferries between Ko Lanta, Ko Phi Phi and Phuket Town are more frequent in the November to May dry season. If you travel in low season, check that your hotel and the tours you want are running.

When people plan their trips
US Google searches for "railay beach" stay between roughly 10,000 and 18,000 a month all year, peaking in December at about 18,100 and dipping to about 9,900 in July (DataForSEO, 12 months to August 2026). Interest is steady rather than seasonal, which fits a destination that visitors plan around the weather, not around holidays.
